The Perfect Day to Cook

Today was a good day despite the rainy, gray weather.  I cooked most of the day, but I did take a break to go see "The Hangover" in Seekonk.  As expected, it was a crazy movie; the pictures at the end were the most hilarious part of the movie.  It makes me smile that we took a "family" vacation to Las Vegas last March with the kiddos and in-laws.  We had an awesome time on that trip and did do lots of family activities there (like magic shows, aquariums, etc.), but watching this movie reminded me how much Vegas is NOT a family-friendly town.  It's a funny movie; you should see it if you haven't yet.

Ok, onto the cooking portion of the blog...  It's hard to believe that the first month of this project is almost completed.  I made 3 recipes today: living large chocolate chunk cookies, macaroni & cheese 101 and pecan sandies.  The chocolate chunk cookies are delish, and I think my Tollhouse recipe has been replaced.  The mac & cheese is very tasty, but if and when I make it again, I think I'll omit the homemade bread crumbs.  The pecan sandies were a BIG disappointment because they looked good but had very little flavor.  Here are the pics from today's cooking extravaganza...

While I was cooking today, I was thinking that I should be keeping track of how much butter, sugar, eggs, flour, etc. I'm using.  It would be kind of cool to see the amount of ingredients I use by the end of this project.  I can always tally them up so far and keep track going forward.  Might be worth it.  I know the amount of butter I've used so far would blow people's minds so I can only imagine what the final tally will look like....
