One Heck of a Day

Man, what a crazy day!  We spent 6 hours at the DMV because the computers there swore that our new car was a commercial vehicle instead of a passenger vehicle.  It's a mini-van, and I have no idea why the DMV thinks that we need commercial licenses to operate it.  Plus, Shamus still has some skin reaction to some unidentifiable source.  A trip to the doctor's office ended with a hive diagnosis.  He doesn't look good, and there is nothing worse than when your kiddos aren't feeling well.

I baked the ginger cookies today; I made the dough last night.  They came out well.  I also made sauteed broccoli rabe and soda biscuits.  I didn't know that broccoli rabe was so bitter, and I have to tell you that I am not a fan.  The soda biscuits were easy to make because the dough was made in the food processor, and although butter was needed, they were tasty and hearty.

I had a nice surprise this evening when my friend Susan stopped by.  Not only did she bring encouragement on a day that was rough, she also came bearing gifts.  She bought me plates, bowls and placemats to display my completed recipes on.  It was such a nice thing to do, and it made my day.

Thank you, Giordano!
