One Week Celebration

I've made it through one whole week, people!  Woo-hoo!  As of right now, I have officially completed 21 recipes.  While not all of them have turned out well, they've all benefitted me in my quest for culinary achievement.  Or something like that....trying to sound professional.  I know I've only finished one week of my project, but I still feel a sense of accomplishment for just making it this far.  :-)

Anyhoo, today I made 4 recipes: buttermilk pancakes, cornmeal biscuits, oven baked frites and creamy vinaigrette.  The buttermilk pancakes (called for 3 cups of buttermilk, by the way) were very good and made a nice lunch for the Hunt family on this fine Labor Day.  The cornmeal biscuits were also delicious (this goes on my "to make again" list), and the oven baked frites were a hit.  However, I'm sorry to report that the creamy vinaigrette had to be dumped down the garbage disposal.  It tasted worse than it looked.  I know that doesn't seem possible by the picture.

Thanks to all of our friends and family who have become "fans" of Project Melissa & Martha on Facebook; there are now 77 fans!  I'm like a kid on Christmas every time I see that a new person has become a fan.  Also, my Twitter followers have now gone international; I have a travel writer from Moscow, Russia following me @1100recipes which is kind of cool.  Technology is an amazing thing.
Week 2 begins tomorrow, and I still haven't figured out what to make.  To keep my sanity in tact and to keep me from going to the grocery store on a daily basis, I'm trying to find recipes that call for ingredients I already have on hand.  By the end of this thing I'll have quite a collection of oils, vinegars and spices.  I wish my family owned a grocery store...
